Impatience

is the thread

drawing us together.

Our lives unique,

woven through foreign lands,

until,

as lovers,

we seam,

interweave,

become beauty.

My wife and I have just returned from Paris where we marked 25 years of marriage.

We married in secret just 2 weeks after we met on the 13th October 1988.

It was love at first sight and it has been, every day since.

The information superhighway

has no moonlit pavements.

No discreet darkened doorways.

Where young lovers embrace,

birthing their first, sweet kiss.

Diagnosed the real problem.

With a knowing smile.

will you still sway with my shifting moods

a breeze of comfort upon my waning leaves

the shade of me

will you change with the seasons, the darkness of night’s winter

when barrenness is abundant

as young lovers warm themselves upon each other’s dreams

should I burn the naked wood of our love

to crisp black charcoal, white to grey

then gaze upon the hypnotic embers as they rise in glowing rings

upon the vast eternity of the night sky

the core of our love a light dust upon the heavens
