harbour beneath moonlight

casts grey timeless shadows

across smooth silent rock

quarried land set tall by man

against strong bitter wind,

treasonous tides

prevailing courageous currents

set upon the soft edge of our existence

we cling, fingers chafed, bleeding

waving

clasping bleached handkerchiefs

lingering farewells

tearful homecomings

have pitied the quayside

loves salt tears

erodes natures strengths

as chisel to stone

carving memories

everlasting

as life wax and wanes
