In shadow your light shone

Beneath the gnarled arms of loves pretence

Eyes drawn to selfish reflection

Were blinded to your beauty

Gouged from furtive flesh

Unremarkable ordinariness

Drew you beneath the canvas of the world

Where pencil lips kissed dark air

Cold gasps, distraught life’s mirror

Scarred arms held secluded self,

Barbed lonely fingers

Pointed

Stabbed

Spawned salted tears

That washed away pastel perceptions

Into an ocean deep, in which to drown

Pains that float upon examined life

Iridescent pigments of self

Bleeding through obscure shroud

Wrapped upon the wounding wind

Colouring the bland world

With your light
